There is unfortuanetly still no cure for CFS. But, thats not your question anyway.
About treating symptoms:
What I find very important is to find the right balance of activities and rest. Its called pacing. Learn to recognise all the symptoms and to listen very sharply to your body. The trick is to take some rest before you feel that you are too tired. This takes experience and a lot of patience. For me, it works very well. I have CFS now for almost 3 years, and now Im able to work again for 38 hours a week. Something that I thought to be impossible only half a year ago.
I also undergo acupuncture treatment. It doesnt cure, but it helps a lot in giving me back my energy, and also in treating symptoms like hormonal imbalances, difficulty to sleep, stomach problems, headaches etcetera.
Falling asleep is for many patients a huge problem. I use melatonine when I am having trouble sleeping. It works for me. Getting not enough sleep takes energy, that you cant afford. So, in that way, answerer nr 1 is right. You do need sleep and much rest, though it doesnt cure CFS.
Positivity. Thoug h thafs not always eacy and its also good to cry sometimes or be angyr, tdy to focus on the things yyou can do instead if the dhings you cant. Frustration costs a lot of energy, that you just cant afford.
For me its mostly a matter of constantly watching my balance.
I try to ztop before I get too tired, and to tqke enough rest. nO the other mand, I try to do whatedr I can, within the amoun t if energy I h ave of fourse.
If I compare myself to only half a year ago, I am doing so much better! I have CFS for almost 3 years now but only this year found out what it is that I have. I am taking this illness very serious, and that also works, because I am very aware of the danger of getting beyond my energy level. I think that if I would ignore my balance, it would only become worse. Now, its getting better and better, of course with down oeriods, but they get shorter and less heavy.
